Still Using Windows XP? See what you're missing with the new Windows 7.
If you've ever wasted time hunting for a misplaced picture, song, or spreadsheet, Windows 7 makes your files easier to find and organize.
It starts with libraries, a new Windows 7 feature that lets you group files into collections, no matter where they are or what they're called.
Imagine you've got music files sprinkled all over your PC. It happens. iTunes puts songs one place, Windows Media Player puts them somewhere else. Maybe you've even copied some CDs to an external hard drive.
In Windows 7, there's an easy way to clean up this mess and keep track of all your music in one place. Just tell your Music library where all these folders are, and the next time you open your library, all your songs show up in the one place.
If you know that a file is somewhere in a particular folder or library---such as Documents, Music, or Pictures---use the search box. You'll see the search box at the top of every folder or library. Just start typing in the search box and the current view will filter based on the text you type. Once you see the file you're looking for, stop typing and open the file.
In the past, the Quick Launch toolbar offered shortcuts to the programs you needed to get to quickly. Now you can simply "pin" programs (and files) to the Windows 7 taskbar, where you'll be able to open them with one click. It's easy to rearrange your lineup of taskbar buttons---just click and drag them. And Jump Lists give you quick access to what you use the most---like frequently-viewed websites or favorite documents.

Computer Concepts & Windows XP
Prerequisites: None
Have you ever talked to someone who knew a lot about computers?
They try to be helpful, but often times they'll talk to you based on the
assumption that EVERYONE knows the basics of Windows. We know that's not
necessarily true. This course is designed to help you learn the basic commands
and elements of Microsoft Windows XP.
It is designed to be informative and practical. explaining what things do
and how you use them. If you are trying to catch your computer knowledge up to
modern times, then this course will help you.
You will learn that Windows is simply another computer
program. It is similar to other programs you may have on your computer with one
large difference. Windows is the program that manages all the other programs,
similar to your boss. Your boss gives out assignments, allocates resources to
projects he/she thinks are worthwhile, and checks up on your activities.
Similarly, Windows does this on your computer and also helps you to keep the
files you create organized.
Have you ever needed a file on your computer that you never
thought you would use again? Maybe you wrote a letter to someone, and need to
see exactly what you said. Or maybe you have saved old reports from your job
somewhere on your computer, and are now frantically trying to find them. If
this hasn't happened to you yet, it will eventually, and that is why it's
helpful to know how to find files on your computer's hard drive using Microsoft
Windows.
Thinking about moving to Windows 7? Spend a morning learning about all the new time saving features. If you're already using Windows 7, find out how to get the most from your investment. Don't miss out!
